Multi Column Distillation Plant (MCDP)
Water for Injectable has been one of the most expensive items to produce for a Pharmaceutical Company, as a lot of energy is required to heat & cool water.
MULTI COLUMN DISTILLATION PLANT is designed to produce free sterile distilled water conforming to IP/BP/USP specifications, working on the principle of inter-stage heat exchanger, dramatically reducing the consumption of energy. Thus enabling production of a large volume of pyrogen free distillate at a fraction of the cost, than conventional systems. In conventional Barnstead Still, where only one column is used, about 1.1Kg steam is required for producing 1 Ltr. distilled water, whereas in Multi Column Distillation Still with a typical 4 column unit, 1 Kg of steam can generate about 3.2 Ltrs. of distilled water or only 0.3Kg steam is required to get 1 Ltr. Distilled water.
Thus 0.7Kg steam is saved per liter of distilled water produced.
Capacity : 50 to 2500 Ltrs.
Scope of Supply
- SS 316 High Pressure Pump for feed water.
- Centrifugal SS 316 Pump for Cooling water for models of capacity above 80 Ltrs.
- Fully automatic control panel for models above 80 Ltrs.

Normal tap water is used. Provided hardness is less than 90 PPM of CaCO3. Temperature ambient 30oC. |

Steam |
Steam must be saturated, free from oil, vapours and other impurities. (A steam filter to obtain 3 microns, clear quality steam is recommended) Pressure - Minimum steam pressure of 3kg/cm2 is essential to guarantee pyrogen-free distillate. |
